Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

eifoze (“we”, “us”) is a mobile app that helps you save food spots and get a gentle nudge when you walk nearby. This policy explains what data we collect, why, and your rights.

2. Data we collect

• Account data: email address, username, and password (stored securely by our auth provider).
• Lists & saved places: list names, restaurant names, addresses, and coordinates you save.
• Location: your device’s GPS coordinates while the app is in use, and in the background if you enable proximity nudges.
• Preferences: alert distance and notification settings.
• Usage analytics: in-app events such as saving a place or sharing a list, linked to your account and stored in our own database (Supabase). We use this solely to improve the product. We do not use third-party analytics SDKs or advertising trackers.

We do not collect payment information. The app is free during beta.

3. How we use location data

Location is used only to show your saved spots on the map and to trigger proximity alerts when you are near a saved place. Location is processed on your device for geofencing; we do not build a history of your movements on our servers.

You can disable location access or background nudges at any time in your device settings or in the app profile.

4. Legal basis (GDPR)

Where GDPR applies, we rely on:

• Contract: to provide the service you signed up for.
• Consent: for location access and push notifications.
• Legitimate interest: to keep the app secure and improve reliability.

5. Third-party services

We use trusted providers to run the app:

• Supabase — authentication, database, and server functions (data hosted in the EU/US per Supabase project settings).
• Google Places API — restaurant search (queries contain search text only, not your live GPS).
• OpenStreetMap / Nominatim — fallback place search.
• Expo / Apple / Google — app distribution and push delivery.

We do not sell your data. We do not use advertising trackers.

6. Shared lists

If you invite someone to a list, they can see the list name and places on that list. Your email is not shared with collaborators. Only people with a valid invite link can join as editors.

7. Data retention & deletion

We keep your data while your account is active. When you delete your account, we remove your personal data and preferences. Lists you own transfer to the oldest editor; if none exist, those lists are deleted. See our Terms of Service for details.

8. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

• Access, correct, or delete your personal data.
• Withdraw consent for location or notifications.
• Object to or restrict certain processing.
• Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

9. Children

eifoze is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

10. Changes

We may update this policy. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do. Continued use of the app after changes means you accept the updated policy.
